Pelosi and Barney Strike Yet Again

Today's latest travesty goes something like this. Barney and the House Finance Committee have introduced another doozie. It seems that Sec. "Turbo Tim" Geithner will now have the power to determine the compensation for every employee in a company receiving TARP $$$. We are assured by Rep. Grayson of Florida that only unreasonable, extravagant compensation will be limited. What are the guidelines? Turbo Tim has full discretion to decide on what is fair - no limits, no guidelines.

A wonderful exchange took place between Neil Cavuto and Rep. Grayson on CNBC this afternoon. It is worth a look see.

The Rules for GM, from our President

Here are the brand new guidelines from Washington that are directed at GM.

1. Kill the development of the Chevy Volt. This is the electric vehicle that is nearing the completion of the development cycle.

2. The production and sale of Trucks and SUV's must be reduced.

3. Raise the fuel economy of remaining vehicles.

OK now. Raising fuel standards is a good idea, no question about it.  Last I checked an electric vehicle reduces dependence on oil. Yet, the geniuses in DC want the Volt eliminated. Maybe Mr. Obama wants to send stimulus $$ to Tesla in California for the scale up of that company. 

For those unaware, Tesla has in production a terrific electric vehicle. Currently, a 2 seat sports car is produced with a sedan coming soon. Problem for the mainstream is the price which exceeds $75,000. So, the President can send our $$ to Tesla as a stimulus (read subsidy) while providing California additional tax $$. After all, the Left coast must be holding a bunch of IOU's for the campaign contributions funneled into the election of Obama.

Finally, in helping GM get straightened out Mr. Obama is asking that 11 of the 20 profitable vehicles currently in production be scaled back or eliminated. That's right - the Trucks and SUV's.

I don't make it up. Just passing it along.

Homeland Security?

It is remarkable that the following position could be suggested:

"Our border with Canada should be treated in the same manner as our border with Mexico. We are all part of North America and parity should be practiced by the United States."

 A FEW GROUND RULES

Where do we start today?

In the past few days we have been enlightened with the following pronouncements and ponderings (trial balloons) from The White House.

 

1.              The White House now runs GM and Chrysler, directly.

 - Mr. Obama fired CEO Waggoner of GM!

- Chrysler will most likely be purchased by FIAT at the pleasure of The White House. Now don’t get me wrong, being Italian leaves a soft spot in my heart for many Italian products – Fiat is not one of them.

- A government panel of some sort will have total control over any strategic or tactical plans made by GM or Chrysler.

 

2.              The UAW just keeps rolling along.

-        The UAW has not given an inch in the negotiation with GM to produce a restructuring plan.

-        Legacy costs for pensions and healthcare must be dramatically altered if either auto company is to survive.

-        The president of the UAW remains in power.

 

3.              This is the first of several warning shots being fired at private enterprise by the Comrades in charge. After destroying the auto companies, they will be re-structured in a manner that they will be state run, union pandering shams.

 

4.              All this will be done to help the American people to remedy the failed policies of the Bush Administration.

 

5.              Gitmo Terrorists

  -        First, Obama orders Gitmo closed

-        Second, all tribunal proceedings are suspended for evaluation

-        Third, it is proposed that the terrorists will be release into the United States

-        Fourth, and this is the BEST part, these murdering bastards will be provided with monetary support to get their lives back to normal. Of course, this means you and I will fund the new terror cells on our soil. Nice.

 

6.              Healthcare Reform - Natasha Richardson’s death

  -        News from Canada this morning. Natasha was taken by auto to a care facility 25 miles from the mountain. (In this country, a helicopter would probably have been used). OK, maybe too much conjecture on my part.

-        Once at the facility, a cost – benefit evaluation was performed. This info is from a Canadian physician at the facility.

-        A CT scanner was at the facility. Was it used? Answer to follow.

-        Natasha was brought home……….and DIED.

-        Mr. Obama is looking to jam a similar system down our throats, not to be confused with swallowing medication. This will save $$. Right! Refer to the efficiency of the Post Office or Amtrak.

 

7.              The $700 Billion Stimulus – Freedom of Information

  -        The myth of the transparent and accessible Administration.

-        Question – Why did Fox News need to sue the Treasury Department in order to obtain Stimulus documents?

-        Courts ruled completely in favor of Fox. The result was the release of heavily redacted documents and continued stonewalling of the FOI requirements.

-        The Federal Reserve refuses to release any documentation at all. The claim – we are not part of the Administration.

-        The Fed is, however, readily spending our money in the form of the ridiculous stimulus funds.

-        Geithner must go.

 

8.              The President is bringing 500+ staffers on the European trip. No doubt, every person is needed, desperately.
